This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 22 clever kindergartens. Unfortunately, most of my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They all work extremely hard and are willing to learn new skills on a daily basic. They absolutely love coming to school.
One of my jobs as a kindergarten teacher is to create 21st century learners that can show, prove and express their learning in a variety of ways using STEM.
These are important skills to instill in my students at a young age that they will have forever.
My Project
I want to give my students the opportunity to learn through play and show their creativity in small group settings. This will encourage my students to use their imagination, as well as provide them with an extension to show their potentials. The games are interactive hands-on activities that can be used in a variety of ways and lessons.
Many of my students do not have access to interactive toys and manipulatives at home so this project when funded will give them more opportunities for meaningful play and learning.I want to foster a love of learning through STEM in the classroom.
