Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative and inspiring scholars who live in Oakland, California. Many are English Language Learners and live in low-income neighborhoods of East Oakland. My goal is to create an inviting, caring community where they feel comfortable and safe.

There are many elements that go into an organized, well-functioning classroom.

Some students are coming in with special needs and would greatly benefit from many differentiated options. These students come to school with a wide range of needs and a huge variety of skill levels. That means that there will be a lot of materials needed/used to ensure each child gets their individual needs met. It is going to be a transformational year for all.

My Project

I have many early readers in my new 2nd grade class this year who are in need of early books! Early books are Level A and B books. I have requested 20 fictional books at each level to support reading development and growth this year. I have also requested headphones. I would like to make a full class set of headphones so that each student can have their own pair of headphones in their desk for reading work on the computer, ST math during math workshop, and other educational computer games.

These early reader books and headphones will promote success in 2nd grade this year for all students!
