Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low income families and all the students at my school receive free lunch. This background can mean that students’ families can not afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible, so they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes and they try their best every day!
My Project
My students use Chromebooks, daily, to engage in learning activities. Each day, students use a program that is directly tied to the scores that they received on a test, given to them three times a year. They complete individualized activities that encourage advanced students to learn beyond what is being covered in the classroom and that help struggling students, by providing intervention activities, which will support what they are working on in the classroom. They also use their Chromebooks to use a reading program that allows them to read digital copies of books, on their reading level, and answer comprehension questions. One of their favorite computer activities is a math program that is directly tied to our math curriculum. My students are extremely motivated and engaged, when they are using these programs.
Unfortunately, many of my students can not afford to purchase headphones, which causes them to be distracted and lowers the impact of these awesome computer activities.
I am requesting 70 pairs of earbuds, since each kindergarten student needs a few pairs each year. These earbuds will help my students remain focused and will help them to get the most impact out of the activities that they complete on their Chromebooks.
