My Students

Our school is located in a small rural community in Indiana County, graduating 60-70 students per year. Although we are small in number, we have enormous school spirit and pride. Our school and community is dedicated to the success of the students.

School funding is in crisis, and our small district has suffered greatly due to shrinking allocations.

Additionally, many of students are economically disadvantaged. In order to provide our students with 21st Century learning experiences, we carefully spend every dollar on teacher training, technology and materials.

My Project

Many teachers utilize technology to deliver instruction. The internet provides so many free resources to educators, such as Khan Academy, Nearpod, varous educational youTube channels and much more. Teacher lessons often include digital media, online interactives, video clips and learning modules to supplement traditional teaching strategies. This type of learning is often individualized and self-paced, allowing students to listen and practice skills repeatedly.

Self-paced learning utilizing media requires students to have earbuds.

It is very distracting to the learning environment when students are playing audio clips out loud, causing a lot of commotion. Individual earbuds for each student, solve this problem.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
