My Students

I am a first year teacher at a public school in central North Carolina with a class of the most amazing third grade students. Our school is a special safe haven for our students, that fosters innovation, creativity, and diverse learners. My classroom features learners with different backgrounds and cultures.

These children are loving, compassionate, and eager to learn.

My eyes are opened daily to the love that my students have for education. Our world is becoming more and more digital and we need to provide our children with the opportunity to engage in this advancement. In order to be the 21st century learners that we are expected to be, we need to have materials that allow us to do so.

My Project

Having a class set of headphones for students to access daily would give them the opportunity to fully engage with our new Chromebook laptops. We utilize our laptops for online reading and math programs that allow the students to watch videos that are intended to help them better understand new material.

Many of the students in my class have learning disabilities that prohibit them from being able to successfully read word problems or lengthy passages; having headphones allows them to have questions read aloud to them on online assessments!

This leads to more success!

Headphones will also provide students opportunities to proceed through lessons at their own pace, which is a critical component in our classroom. My students will gain so much from having headphones accessible to them when they are working on the computers.
