Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

1 in 6 Christopher students attends our After School Homework Center Program for a total of 100+. I am the teacher in charge. Our students are First through Sixth graders. 80% of Christopher kids are Hispanic and English Language Learners. 70% are on the free or reduced lunch plan. If it weren't for the program, these children would go home to empty houses with no one to help with homework or reading. They are here at school from 7:45am to 5:45pm. That's a long day, but they still manage to get through all the homework! They love being here! Reading is required daily homework. Very often children ask if they may take books. Most don't have books at home. It would be great to have both Spanish and English books available for check out. Thanks for your consideration.
