My Students

Don't you love curling up with a good book? My students are eager to read, but do not have someplace comfortable to do so. Right now they read at their desks or on our hard tiled floor.

Every single one of my 23 second grade students are eager to read!

They love reading all of the wonderful books in our classroom library. They beg for more Read to Self time! They also love sharing all of the new information they learn from the books that they read.

My Project

With a classroom rug all of the students will have the option to go sit in a comfortable spot while they are reading books in class. They will be able to lay down or sit with a "just right" book and read, read, read. They currently sit on a cold, hard, tile floor or at the desks.

My students are so excited to read, I am hoping to help them continue to love it.

Providing them with a comfortable spot in the classroom will help them to learn that reading can be a pleasurable and relaxing activity.
