My Students

Creating eager readers is my goal as a primary classroom teacher. Finding ways to captivate these readers can sometimes be challenging. Offering my students a modern technology for reading will definitely capture their eagerness!

I teach a first/second grade multi-age, inclusion class.

Our school is part of a large, urban district where resources, especially new technologies, are often scarce. My students are intrigued with technology and I am working towards creating a classroom that offers them many technological opportunities.

My Project

The Nookcolor Readers are a perfect technology for my young students. I have students reading at many different levels and these readers can offer them books they need at their levels. My beginning readers can select picture books that they can read or can even be read to them. My advanced readers can select their favorite chapter books. As adults, we sometimes mourn the idea of not holding books in our hands when reading, but our students are entering a new way of receiving information - electronically. I have to offer them the technologies of today to prepare them for their future. Using eReaders in the classroom will inspire them to be eager readers!
