Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! I have a total of 26 bilingual students that come from diverse countries and backgrounds. They are mostly first or second-generation immigrant students from Central America and a few from Asian or African nations. Most of my students are from low-income households and lack books and technology in their homes.
They are wonderful students who have a strong work ethic and are dedicated to academic achievement and have great hopes for the future.
They are humble, kind-hearted, and grateful children whom I feel blessed that I can guide and teach this year! Please support their learning! Thank you so much in advance.
My Project
My students would benefit from items that encourage them and make them eager to read a variety of books. I have chosen some book easels that will allow me to display specific unit-related books that will capture the students' interest and attention. It is harder to be inspired by a book when it is "hidden" between other books on a bookshelf. When a student is able to see the book title and cover clearly, she is immediately more enthusiastic and drawn to read it.
Additionally, I would love to have some cute and inviting cushions that will further encourage my students to find a corner in the classroom and cuddle up with a good book.
Children in elementary school still love to grab something plush, soft, and comfortable to rest their head or back on as they enjoy reading their books. These cute animal and emoji cushions also provide the children with a sense of a buddy as they read. Furthermore, they make the entire classroom feel more "homey" and joyful.
Thus my students would love to come into a cheerful, comfortable, and beautifully-organized classroom this year. The beautiful wooden book easels facilitate easy access to unit-related books and encourage the children to want to read these books. Moreover, the cheerful cushions would provide students a higher level of comfort and joy as they cuddle up with them while they read their books.
