My students need a varied reading materials for their nightly book clubs, to keep them in engaging and current books. Digital E-books would enable kids to read a better variety.

My Students

Our school is a sixth, seventh and eighth grade school in a suburb of Reno, NV. Our school is a beautiful and has only been open for nine school years. We were designed as a high tech school, but as time has passed our computers and technology have not been updated and the great Project Based Learning curriculum we developed and established is becoming more, and more difficult to conduct. The sixth grade classes are composed of more than 400 students from various social economic needs and encompass many different learning needs.

My Project

Students read in nightly book clubs as a way to execute real life reading skills. Often reading ten or more books a year. With E-Reader's, student groups will be able to choose their own books, from digital sources for more current and larger variety at their instructional level. Students love the responsibility and new experience of an E-Reader. Student's would also be able to use these tablets for research on a variety of Social Studies and English projects, such as book trailers and Web Quests. Six tablets would enable one per group during group work, or allow one group to have access to digital books.
