Many of our students come from low income households and often have difficulty attending school for various reasons. Being able to play basketball with their friends was one of the top 3 choices for recess activities from our students. Having activities that our students are interested in will help to increase their attendance at school and encourage the development of important life skills.
Playing basketball can teach our students the importance of character and teamwork, build a sense of community, and help them to develop their pro-social skills.
Being able to provide more opportunities to play a sport that our students enjoy will help to encourage our most at risk students to come to school be present for the learning.
