My Students

Students need the freedom to try things out and to make mistakes to help them grow. Building a culture of learning from our mistakes and helping each other allows students to learn at their own pace. They learn from and with each other. They need the materials to learn through discovery.

Every single child has the ability to grow, learn, and shine.

Our job is to give each of them the individual support they need and give them space to bloom!

The pandemic has left kiddos stuck at home. The district has provided them with the tech resources to access remote learning, but not the manipulatives. Students cannot get the same kind of hands-on learning we have in the classroom from a screen. With these materials, they will all have their own math and reading bags to help them physically play with and manipulate.

My Project

This project will allow my students to have all the materials they need to experience their learning and not be limited by the screen in front of them. These materials will let them play with numbers and letters and make natural connections to solidify their learning!

The best way to learn is hands-on.

These reading and math tools will allow students to build words, manipulate sounds, build number sense and understand our base ten number system. Students can follow along and manipulate their materials just like me. Doing is so much better than just seeing!

Students can use magnetic letters, beads, and stamp to play with new phonics sounds and rules. These materials will help them connect the sounds they hear to the written letter, how letters come together with these sounds to form words, and how how those words come together to form sentences and later stories!

They can discover numbers within ten as the build with animal counters, tens frames, and hundreds charts. As students manipulate the counters and see how ten and one is 11 and 2 tens and 2 ones make 22, they build the number sense they need to understand all numbers past tens to hundreds, thousands and so on!
