This year I will be working with amazing students in grades 5–8 who are developing the foundational reading skills they need to succeed. Many of them struggle with decoding, fluency, and comprehension, and require targeted, engaging support. At this age, it’s critical that reading intervention respects their maturity. Materials designed for younger children can feel embarrassing or discouraging to older students, even if that’s their reading level. That’s why I work hard to find high-interest, age-appropriate resources that are accessible and empowering. When students see themselves reflected in the content—and feel safe to grow without judgment—they’re more motivated, confident, and proud of their progress. Your support helps us create a classroom where struggling readers are seen, respected, and inspired to keep going.
