This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our 550 scholars, as we call them, come from all over Charleston County. They have made the choice to come to our school. Our school is one of the most diverse in our county. Around 50% of our population receives free or reduced-price lunch. Our scholars come ready and eager to learn with amazing ideas.
Our scholars come from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
And they continue to push themselves to be the best they can be. They are our future generation.
My Project
Being able to get these materials to perform a shark dissection with our scholars would be epic. Our mini-mester course is focusing on sharks, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. We are deep diving into the world of sharks to study them and research about how their population is dropping rapidly which is not good for our ocean ecosystem.
Putting sharks in our scholar's hands to dissect sharks will help them extend their knowledge of sharks.
They will use the knowledge to then come up with a plan or create a product to sale to help raise awareness for the conservation of sharks.
