This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Dungeons and Dragons is an excellent way for students to learn multiple skills in a fun and engaging format. Our school has had a Dungeons and Dragons club for the past four years, but has struggled to grow and maintain membership without access to materials and books. We serve a population of underserved and inner-city students, many of whom have had no previous introduction to fantasy roleplaying.
Dungeons and Dragons develops critical thinking skills, social/emotional learning, mathematics, creativity, and builds lifelong friendships and hobbies.
Over the four years that this club has grown, I've seen students with shyness and low self-esteem develop into imaginative problem-solvers and leaders. With your help, we can reach more of our students and engage them in a club that will help to morph them into confident and creative young people.
