My students love having the opportunity to be introduced to new activities.

They are eager to learn and enjoy challenges. The majority of my students are not involved in extracurricular sports or activities. Basketball is the only school sport offered at my middle school. My students thrive on learning new activities. They just need the equipment and someone to introduce it to them! I have many students who are not getting the required amount of physical activity each day. I want to give each of them the opportunity to find an activity that they enjoy, so that they will be able to partake in that activity for the rest of their lives. Can you imagine never learning about your favorite sport or activity?

My Project

With this class set of drumsticks, my students will be able to participate in a "Drums Alive" activity. Drums Alive combines the benefits of a traditional physical fitness program with the brain affected benefits of music and rhythm. Drums Alive is a program that fosters a healthy balance physically, mentally, emotionally and socially! My students love music, dancing, and singing. With this class set of drumsticks, we can combine rhythm, music, and physical activity. In addition to Drums Alive, my students will be able to use these drumsticks for countless other activities within our instrumental music program.

In physical education, our goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

Drums Alive will enable my students to experience the enjoyment of physical fitness and experience how rhythm and music can enhance exercise! My students are talented and creative. Funding this project will also allow my students to shine creatively by making their own rhythms and dance moves to incorporate into Drums Alive workouts!
