Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The drum set will be used in class and in concerts to enhance the beat of the music that is play. This past year my students have put on several concerts using old drums that are broken. This was troubling because a broken drum does not sound good and it can hurt students. We have also used bucket drums which are fun but not as fun as actually drums.

I want to give my students a rockin musical experience with the drums that go with it.

My school is a title one school and the students exposure to music comes from the music they learn throughout the years. Students learn about a variety of music cultures and genres of music. Most music that is popular today uses a drum set. My school is in need of one to help teach students about the music they already enjoy.

The drum set will also be used to enhance our concerts. This past year we used drums in a song and several more songs could have been better if we had a drum set. The drum set includes multiple drums and cymbals which would elevate the songs to the next level. The cart will allow us to transport the drum-set from the music room to the stage.

Both the cart and the drum-set will last for many years and allow my current students to enjoy making music with the drum set but also future students for years to come.
