Help me give my students constructive opportunities to develop their minds and keep their bodies active to facilitate increased focus and learning with music, drumming and physical activity!
My twenty-nine fifth-graders are verbally gifted, quick-minded, and love to be actively engaged. They help each other as tutor partners and work well as a team to accomplish class goals. Some of my students need additional opportunities to release energy to increase their ability to focus their thinking.
My students care about each other, for example, if someone doesn't understand how to work a problem, there are at least half a dozen classmates that will raise their hand to help!
My Project
Recently, I've received training from Drum's Alive which uses research-based movement to increase student's cognitive abilities. These materials will add to the equipment I have gathered to start using drumming and physical fitness with students to provide constructive ways for them to release their extra energy and increase their ability to focus on learning.
The air pump will save time and allow me to pump up a dozen drumming fitness balls for students to utilize.
The seat covers will be used on 5-gallon buckets to store the drum sticks, sashes, and other supplies we'll use as well as providing a place to store the deflated balls when not in use. In addition, I will use these 5-gallon buckets around my classroom as seating when not being used for storing drumming supplies.
