My Project

My amazing students are music loving, creative kids from a rural area in Western Pennsylvania. Living in a very homogenous area, I feel it is important to help students learn about other countries, cultures, and how music is used in them. This year I began exploring world music concepts with my students but found that my instrumental materials were lacking.

Adding 3 new tubanos to our classroom will help inspire our learning about music in the world around us.

I plan to use these drums to continue learning about music and cultural events such as Lunar New Year, Diwalli, and more. Music is truly a way to connect to the world outside our community and through this project I hope to do that for my students.
