The adjustable mobile computer desk gives students a flexible technology center where they can work comfortably and engage with digital activities. The clipboards allow us to easily move learning activities to different areas of the room, giving students more choices for where and how they work.\r\n\r\nThe pretend microphone has been especially exciting for our students. It gives them a fun and motivating way to practice speaking clearly, using their voices, and communicating with confidence. What might feel like a challenging speech activity can become an opportunity to pretend, perform, and have fun while practicing important skills.\r\n\r\nThe wireless doorbell has also become a helpful part of our routines. Its gentle sound gives students a predictable signal that it is time to transition, helping our groups move from one activity to the next more smoothly. The soft string lights add a peaceful touch to the room and help create an environment where students can feel comfortable and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWhile these may seem like simple tools, they support something much bigger: helping students feel successful. When children know what to expect, have access to tools that meet their individual needs, and feel comfortable in their environment, they are more prepared to participate, communicate, and learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping create a speech therapy space where every child can feel comfortable, capable, and ready to use their voice!","fullyFundedDate":1786307929931,"projectUrl":"project/creating-calm-engaging-spaces-for-every/10238653/","projectTitle":"Creating Calm, Engaging Spaces for Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jacobson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6315103_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714841589889","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6315103"},{"teacherId":6315103,"projectId":10222274,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our speech therapy room now has a warm, welcoming space where students can slow down, connect, and feel comfortable using their voices.\r\n\r\nThe cozy reading and storytelling corner has quickly become more than just a place to sit—it has become a place for communication, confidence, and connection. Students gather there to listen to stories, retell events, answer questions, practice new vocabulary, build sentences, and share their own ideas.\r\n\r\nFor some of my students, communicating with others can feel overwhelming. Having a comfortable, inviting space helps take away some of that pressure and gives them a place where they can take their time, try new words, and practice expressing themselves. The soft seating and calming environment create a setting where students are more willing to participate, take communication risks, and celebrate their successes.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this project is watching students become more confident. A child who may have initially hesitated to answer a question begins raising their hand. A student who struggled to retell a story begins adding details. A quiet voice becomes a little louder, a sentence becomes a conversation, and a hesitant communicator begins to realize that their ideas are worth sharing.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a space where students don't just practice speech and language skills—they discover that their words matter.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a room where every student can feel safe, supported, and proud of their progress. The large monitor has allowed students to clearly watch videos about Lunar New Year traditions, celebrations, and stories, making the content accessible and engaging for all learners. Students used the doodle pads to take notes, draw key ideas, and record new vocabulary, which supported listening comprehension, expressive language, and memory skills in a fun, low-pressure way.\r\n\r\nThe globe string lights added a calming and festive atmosphere to our classroom, representing traditional Lunar New Year lanterns.
