Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Vocal Music to a diverse group of music students at a public Title I visual and performing arts high school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come from all over the city to receive a top-notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater). Many of them go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.
Students build their creativity, self-expression, and confidence through music literacy, and performances.
My Project
The students in our vocal jazz class will be learning a lot about solo and ensemble performing this semester. As a part of the class we would like to hire a rhythm section to work with students during class sessions and multiple performances throughout the semester.
Your donation would provide a drummer for multiple classes and performances that would help inspire students continued growth in their musical learning this spring.
Our drummer would work with students in singing jazz solo literature while also assisting in their ensemble work. Having a quality drummer does a lot to help the students through providing a musical foundation to lending his professional expertise to students working on arranging solos for performance. Thank you for considering helping my students in this way!
