My Students

My students are a very diverse group of children with one thing in common. They all attend an urban, public Montessori school. Sixty percent of the students qualify for free lunch and eighty percent of the students are racial minorities.

We follow the teachings of Maria Montessori to meet the needs of the whole child, physically, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually, by allowing the child to guide his or her learning.

I am fortunate to be in a school that sees music as an integral part of the child's development and encourages musical growth and expression.

My Project

We have started drumming in music class and it is a HIT! (Pun intended.). Even the most reluctant of students are enjoying it. Because of this warm reception, drumming is going to become something more than a unit. It is going to be something we do regularly and will be embedded into our lessons.

I need music for my students as we grow in our drumming skills!

I am requesting 2 curriculum books and a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to purchase materials to use in drumming. I am also requesting Pen Pal pencil holders as they are great for holding mallets on instruments.
