Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have been teaching music for 32 years. I am currently teaching general music to kindergarten through fifth grade at an economically disadvantaged school. The administration and I have matching visions that giving these students tremendous opportunities will increase not only test scores but also their experiences and joy in coming to school. Since joining the staff last year, I have put on multiple concerts and musicals that involve every student in the school.

I am asking for a set of 36 matching and stackable black stools for students to sit on.

One way I will use these stools is bucket drumming. I have taught bucket drumming at other schools. Bucket drumming is playing 5-gallon buckets (which Home Depot already donated) with drum sticks or tubes. Students sit in rows with the buckets and play. The students love these lessons and learn not only how to play drums, but how they must cooperate to play in unison.

I teach every grade level each day. My lessons are different for each grade level and I need to be able to quickly set up stools for one grade level and quickly stack stools for another grade level.

The addition of these stackable black stools will help make the bucket drumming lessons successful. I also will be able to use the stools during other lessons, concerts, and performances.
