This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our bands motto is "Positive Attitudes and Good Will Towards All." I think the students genuinely believe and follow this motto.

We are the musical ambassadors of our school.

The students of the band program aspire to be model students. They lead by example and show others what it is to be inspired and how to set a high bar of expectation. These students are fun to work with and are very hard working. The students practice long hours even though they don't have to. They are inspired to be the best that they can be at everything they do. They are a diverse group with a wide range talent. I am proud to be their band director and wouldn't trade them for any other group of students.

My Project

The current drum major podium is being barely held together. The drum major is forced to stand in a weird position because of the poor condition of the podium. We have "rigged" it the best that we can to get through as many seasons as possible. There are no rails on the current drum major podium. This drum major is forced to focus on good balance on the current podium rather than conducting the band. This new podium has railings on the side which allow the drum major to safely get up and down.

This podium will allow the drum majors to feel more safe and confident while conducting the band.

They can get up and down quicker, so the students can have more than one drum major. (With the current podium the students have to be careful and take more time climbing a shaky ladder to get on it) The students performing on the field will be able to see the drum majors better since it is six feet up in the air.
