My Students

I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch due to the high volume of students that fall within the poverty line. School funds are scarce making the purchasing of resources difficult for the school and highly reliant on business sponsors.

Through the county budget, the high school receives $400 A YEAR for the band program which doesn't even begin to cover the cost of operating a band program.

Students are very eager to use, play and perform on equipment that is not nearly two decades old and in desperate need of updates and repairs.

My Project

We are requesting drum line carrier equipment. The current marching percussion (drum line) equipment that my drummers currently use is going on 20 years old!

I want to provide my drummers with new equipment that is better not only for the drums we have (some of which are also 20 years old), but more importantly better for my drummers.

I have drummers who suffer from back problems that are only made worse with equipment that doesn't provide adequate support for their backs and shoulders the way more modern equipment does. That reason more than any other has led me to ask for help in providing new marching carriers and stands for my drummers.
