Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing learners who need additional support to spark and ignite their curiosity and love of learning. Some have struggled within a typical classroom model all of their educational careers. Many of my students face difficulties not just at school, but at home as well. At my school, all students participate in the "free or reduced price lunch" program. Our team of teachers strive to provide for the needs of all students, by implementing engaging hands-on projects, innovative teaching techniques, instructional technologies, and helping to meet other vital needs, such as food and beverages.
My students have the potential to be the agents of change our community needs in order to thrive.
However, we need to continue to challenge and enrich their learning environment, whether this be through innovative classroom practices or through providing necessary sustenance to keep them focused and energized. All my students are special, with unique and specific needs. Securing resources and materials to help them learn or stave off hunger and sleepiness, will ensure that they have the warm, welcoming, and engaging learning environment they deserve.
My Project
In Social Studies, students often have difficulty placing themselves in different time periods and cultures, especially when they are so vastly different from their own. They are so far removed from the different peoples and civilizations we are learning about, that it is hard for them to image what life was like or what it must have felt to be a member of that society.
Help my students obtain the means to dress the part and place themselves in a different time period or culture, through donating to this project.
Through creating their own historically based costumes, my students can immerse themselves in history and gain a better sense of times past.
