My Project

At our school, our students are composed of a majority of Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders who live on Hawaiian Homestead. These students come from the Leeward Coast of Oahu, from Nanakuli, Maili, Waianae, and Makaha. Our students are resilient, socially responsible, and resourceful.

In today’s cutting edge, fast-paced world of constantly evolving technologies, I would like my students to do more than simply memorize facts in order to prepare for the real world.

I want them to learn how to think like creators, so they can enter adulthood with the ability to contribute their own ideas and be innovators themselves. For this project, we are requesting a Glowforge Plus laser engraver and cutter. While working with the Glowforge Plus, my students will be able to work on hands-on projects that have real-life applications and provide my students with the opportunity to discover their inner innovator. They will also be incorporate all content areas such as art, technology, science, language arts, and math to create these projects. This will be a great tool for them to become the innovative thinkers that our world needs.
