Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Impact of this project is much larger than the 130+ students I teach, the impact will be school wide. As the 6th-grade science teacher for our entire grade, I have the privilege of teaching 130+ students. I’m also the Student Council Advisor, and across both of these roles, my goal is to create an environment where students can express their learning, collaborate on ideas, and build a vibrant school community. Unfortunately, between my students and studco members, our consumable supplies disappear quickly.

To help my students truly thrive academically and create a school community where students are proud to be a part of, I am seeking funding on materials and here is how your generosity will impact my students and our school.

This upcoming year I’m focusing on differentiated instructions. The paint, watercolors, markers, and colored pencils will allow my students to accurately color-code diagrams and paint vivid scientific models. The various sizes of paper that I have requested as well as the clay, popsicle sticks, felt, and foam paper will serve as their canvas to showcase lab posters and science projects.

With our Student Council almost being entirely student-led, these young leaders are responsible for marketing school events, organizing spirit weeks, building props for our school dance, and creating a welcoming campus culture. The Sharpies, markers, glitter glue, pens, paper, and stencils will provide them with the items necessary to design eye-catching and vibrant posters.

Teaching 130+ students and running student council means that every marker, paper, paint, etc, gets utilized to the fullest. By donating to this project, you aren't just buying supplies; you’re giving a massive group of students the tools they need to present their learning with full creativity and allowing our student council members to lead their school community with confidence.
