Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school in a major city and a lot of our students come from difficult home lives. It's a high poverty area, and this year our school budget has been cut severely. We need your help!

We are one of the few schools in the area that has a strong art program, and I am so grateful for it.

Over the past six years that I have been here, I have seen more and more students turn to art as a form of expression. These students love art, and I think it's important to keep that love growing.

My Project

Like most Art classes whenever we are working on a project I'll have some students finish much faster than other kids, everyone works at their own pace! That is why I have a station set up in my room for students that finish a project early. The station has free draw paper, construction paper, and drawing books. The students LOVE the drawing books and often ask to borrow them and take them home. As you can imagine occasionally a book gets lost of comes back with some rips on it.

That is why I am asking for a new set of drawing books for my classroom.

When students see that we have new books they will be even more excited and motivated to draw! I am also asking for pencils and colored pencils for those great drawings.
