This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Some of my students are in my class for the second year in a row and are awaiting new technology to further their design skills. They have been patient, using incredibly outdated technology while creating some amazing art work with computers that most people wouldn't think twice about using.

I also have over a hundred new students anxious to learn a new skill - graphic design.

For some of them, my class is their first introduction into actually using a desktop computer. While my computers are old and antiquated (by today's standards), I want to be able to give them the experience of using even a small piece of technology that professionals all over the world use everyday.

My Project

By funding my project, you will be giving my students the chance to feel what it would be like to be a professional graphic designer.

Using a drawing tablet, instead a traditional computer mouse, may also help inspire and motivate students to soar in an area of school where they never thought that they may end up liking.

One small piece of technology, like a drawing tablet, may lead a student towards a career that they may have previously never considered.

A drawing tablet has more control in graphics programs than a traditional mouse does and can therefore create inspiration in a student that has never used one before. They are fun and exciting to use because they are something different than what most students have used or even seen. They like to be able to show their friends how proficient they are using an item like a drawing tablet. When their friends give the tablet a try for themselves and have extreme difficulty using it, my graphic design students are excited to take over again and show them how easy it can be.
