My students need a child size table, chairs and various restaurant dramatic play materials to add to our kitchen center within our classroom.

My Students

Children learn about the world around them through play. Be the person that can make an impact upon my students in a positive and lasting way.

I am a special education teacher that teaches within a Special Day Class for students with mild to moderate disabilities within grades one to four.

The students within my classroom possess a variety of disabilities that include Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Disorders, Learning Disabilities and Orthopedic Impairments. Despite the challenges that my students face, they love school and are eager to learn.

My Project

One of my student's favorite areas in the classroom is the kitchen area. They love to play restaurant and take orders from both students and adults within the classroom. This provides an excellent opportunity for my students to 'act-out' real-life experiences through dramatic play. Through the funding of this project, my students will be able to improve their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way. Students will be able to make lists with the items from the dramatic play boxes and pretend to have a sandwich and pizza shop. They will have a child-centered play area for students to sit at to create their pretend restaurant. Students will also have the ability to make their own pretend menu's with play items. The possibilities are endless!

The materials requested through this project will have a tremendous impact upon my students.

These materials will assist students with their language and cognitive development, and they will be able to relate real-life experiences to their play.
