Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Drama Clubs across the country provide students with an opportunity to explore performance skills, set building, costume design, light design, and sound operations. This opportunity gives students multiple ways to explore their creativity.
Benefits of theater education: self-confidence, empathy, tolerance, concentration, social awareness, and FUN!
We are a Title I school with limited funds for our Drama Club program. We rely solely on donations and our own elbow grease to create our visual props and sets. In addition, our school has two stand-alone microphones. When 3rd-8th graders are just learning performance basics, it can be difficult to project voices and be understood. This project will help us bridge that gap and let our students' voices be HEARD!
My Project
Who remembers the sound a microphone held too close to the speaker's mouth makes? Who has ever been in the middle of a speech or lecture and the microphone simply stops working? It is my goal as a Drama Club teacher to help prevent these cringe-worthy moments from impacting our performances.
