The supplies you provided have become an essential part of our daily learning — and my students couldn't be more excited to use them.\r\n\r\nThe first day we unpacked everything felt like a celebration. Students gasped, called dibs on colors, and kept saying, \"These are ours?\" It may seem small, but having brand-new materials — pencils that aren't tiny stubs, markers that actually work, notebooks with clean pages — gave them a sense of pride and ownership in their learning. Several students immediately started organizing supplies and asked if we could \"take extra good care of them so they last forever.\"\r\n\r\nThese resources are now used every single day. Students have been working on hands-on math activities, group problem-solving tasks, posters, and reflection journals. Having the right materials has eliminated the stress of \"I don't have anything to write with\" and replaced it with eagerness to jump into the lesson. For many of my students, this was the first time they didn't have to worry about having or sharing basic supplies — and it has noticeably lifted their confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building collaborative learning routines using these tools. We're beginning a new unit that involves team problem solving with whiteboards, anchor charts, and interactive notebooks — all made possible because of your donation. Your contribution didn't just fill our cabinets; it has filled our classroom with excitement, creativity, and readiness to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and giving them what they need to be successful. The items you funded for our student store have made a bigger difference than I could have imagined.\r\n\r\nMy students earn classroom currency for positive choices, effort, participation, and growth. Once the store was stocked with snacks and treats, the anticipation began building immediately — but nothing compared to the first \"shopping day.\" As soon as the store opened, my students were buzzing with excitement. They formed a line, counted their earnings carefully, and proudly selected their purchases. Several students told me it was the best part of their day, and one even said, \"I've never worked this hard in class before — I needed enough money for my chips!\"\r\n\r\nThe store has quickly become a powerful motivator. Students are more focused, more collaborative, and more eager to persevere through challenging tasks because now there is a meaningful reward tied to their effort. Beyond behavior, I've watched their confidence grow as they take ownership of earning and budgeting their class cash.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are moving toward a new goal: encouraging students to set longer-term saving plans with \"big ticket\" items they can work toward over time. They're already talking with each other about strategies and how to budget wisely — real-life skills growing naturally from something they truly enjoy.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Because of your donation, our student store is officially up and running — and it has already transformed the energy in our room!\r\n\r\nMy students earn \"class cash\" for participation, effort, teamwork, and positive behavior. Last week, they finally got to visit the store for the very first time. The moment I opened the bins of snacks and goodies, their faces *lit up*. One student whispered, \"Whoa... this feels like a real store!\" Another student told me it was the first time he had ever been able to \"buy\" something with money he earned on his own. That confidence and pride was priceless.\r\n\r\nThe store has quickly become an amazing motivator for responsibility and engagement. Students are working harder than ever on math tasks, and I'm seeing more teamwork and perseverance — because now they are setting goals and saving up for something they really want. We've even added mini financial lessons about budgeting and smart spending, and they love making those real-life decisions each week.\r\n\r\nNext steps: Students are preparing for our first **\"savings challenge\"**, where they'll decide whether to spend now or save for a bigger prize later. They are already talking strategies, comparing prices, and even suggesting items they'd love to see in the future. None of this excitement, joy, or accountability would be possible without you.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping create a place where their hard work pays off — literally! We did a relief printing project where we carved into styrofoam trays and then rolled our new ink over the surface. We placed paper on top, applied pressure and peeled back the paper to reveal our prints. And then repeated. This project was done with 4th, 5th and 6th graders- so served about 225 students. As a new art teacher I was apprehensive about how this project would go- these were unfamiliar materials to the students, there are a lot of materials involved in printmaking and the ink we used- while water soluble- does not wash out of clothing easily.\r\nThe students were excited to see and try the materials. I kept this project simple since it was our first project with these supplies, but the students were already coming up with new ideas of how they could use them in the future to make even more interesting prints. I gained confidence as well from seeing how the students responded to the materials and applied themselves to learning about them. Since this initial project we have done at least one printmaking project per grade per year. \r\nAll the supplies have been essential for our art classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1665434271852,"projectUrl":"project/starting-an-art-program/6756888/","projectTitle":"Starting an Art Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Curnutt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8650664"},{"teacherId":9452354,"projectId":8977671,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding the iPad for our 8th-grade science class! The impact has been incredible, and it's already making a big difference in how my students learn. We will be using the iPad for ecophotography, where students take pictures of local plants and animals, and even record their experiments. It's helping them connect with science in a way that's hands-on and interactive. Students are more excited about learning because they can see and document their observations right in front of them.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has been a game-changer in how we conduct science experiments. Now, students can easily record videos of their experiments, review the results, and use apps to explore scientific concepts further. This has made learning more fun and engaging for them. They love being able to capture data and experiment in ways that feel more like real-life scientists.\r\n\r\nSome students have really embraced the iPad, especially those who learn best by doing or by seeing things visually.
