My students will use this listening center daily during guided reading. This listening center will give children the opportunity to have multiple books read to them throughout the school year. They will have multiple new experiences and become aware of different genres of books. Many children do not have the great pleasure of being read to at home. They don't have the opportunity to hear and learn new vocabulary. Having a listening center in their classroom and being read to daily multiple times will increase their vocabulary and reading skills. My students will be able to retell the stories that were read to them, communicate key details about the the story, and learn to share the beginning, middle and end of a story. Sky is the limit when a child learns how to read.
