Help me give my students some cool relief from no Air Conditioning in our Drama and Dance classrooms in the heat! We need some support to safely teach-so the kids can focus on learning not overheating!

Drama and Dance Kids Need Cool Air! Be a Fan and Buy a Fan!

As we are excitedly preparing to welcome our middle schoolers back to our colorful and bright Performing Arts classrooms, we have been greeted with an issue public school teachers have often faced in the south: NO AIR CONDITIONING!

We hope that providing each classroom with 4 cooling tower fans in each corner will be a slight relief for everyone to focus on learning the arts and developing their creative minds, not just thinking about the heat! The Air Conditioning has been out in our classrooms since May and we have an incredible administrative team that is consistently encouraging the district to get this fixed, but with school starting in just a few days we need an immediate solution.

At open house last night, I learned I have two students with hearing impairments (both who are nervous to ask for support when needed.) While we have one industrial fan, it makes the classroom sound like a jet engine is running and makes it impossible to hear. I shouted over the fan last night for a 2 and a half hour open house and woke up today with a sore throat- I can't imagine trying to do that every day, or pick between the classroom being 85 degrees or having a voice.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve the situation by providing some cooler, quieter air to the students, you will ultimately allow these kids to focus on what Drama and Dance should be: joyful movement, artistic expression, and developing that much needed self confidence in middle school.
