Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd-6th grade students are full of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. Our Creative Arts classes give them opportunities to learn about cultural diversity as it is expressed throughout the world.
This year, our students will experience the vibrant and colorful celebrations of The Lunar New Year through the music, art, food, celebrations, language, and unique traditions within the Chinese country and culture.
As they explore music, art, food, dance, theater, architecture, literature, and written and verbal language, each child will have an opportunity to see and experience the world. They will create and play with tangram puzzles, draw a pagoda, watch a virtual presentation of "Shen Yun," learn the song, "Gong Xi," play Chinese cymbals, read award-winning books, print templates to create dragon paper bags, learn to eat with chopsticks, enjoy Chinese Dim Sum, and learn the main strokes of Chinese calligraphy.
