Because of your generosity, my students were able to bring an idea that started as a classroom conversation into something real and meaningful. With the donated materials, my kindergarteners have been working together to create care kits for members of our school community and nearby community who may be in need. The kits include hygiene essentials, snacks, and personal touches such as stickers and decorations chosen by the students themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were beyond excited. They immediately began sorting items, counting supplies, and talking about who these kits might help. One of my favorite moments was hearing students say things like, \"This might make someone smile,\" and \"I want them to know they are loved.\" It was powerful to watch five- and six-year-olds show such genuine compassion and excitement about helping others.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this project, students will finish assembling and personalizing each care kit before helping distribute them within our school community and local area. The hexagonal cushions are used for my technology small group, giving students a comfortable seating option while completing online lessons.\r\n\r\nMy students are very grateful for their new seating options in the classroom. Having 60 students who meet twice daily, they go through a lot of dry erase markers. Having purchased the dry erase markers myself the first half of the year, I have been able to purchase other items for rewards for the students because the markers were purchased for us this time around. \r\n\r\nMy school is closing down this year and there was no funding available for classroom supplies. Everything I needed for my classroom and students I had to pay for myself. Having supplies donated to our classroom has been amazing.
