Hi! I am a Title 1 reading specialist in a small town Title 1 school. Two other Title 1 teachers and myself provide services to 150-180 students of my school 500 students each day. We LOVE Read Across America Week.

Our school celebrates Read Across America Week with many activities related to Dr. Seuss. We have a dress backwards day based on the story Wacky Wednesday. There are plenty of Green Eggs and Ham for breakfast. And Thing 1 and Thing 2 may be found at school. Many of the students' at my school only experience the joy of Dr. Seuss and his wonderful books for the one day or week a year he is celebrated.

I would love to provide more activities related to Dr. Seuss and his stories by adding the games, books, and activities requested to our resources for students in every classroom of the school. The games would be hands-on to reinforce key phonics and phonemic awareness skills to the Kindergarten, 1st grade, and Life Skills classrooms. The games would also be a great reinforcer for those still working on building social skills and taking turns. The books would be used by the 2nd and 3rd grade students for reading practice and Accelerated Reader test. As a bonus, the struggling readers would be able to listen to the story. The activity cards, and book would be used by myself and other teachers to continue integrating the many ideas and topics of Dr. Seuss throughout the curriculum. The puppets would be an added visual for the Life Skills classes to hold and talk to while giving a concrete picture to them. The students of my school would love to celebrate Dr. Seuss' stories all year long.

You will make it possible for the students of my school to experience the joys of Dr. Seuss and his magical stories throughout the school year.....instead of just one week.
