Help me give my students the chance to be competitive with the far more wealthy baseball programs in Las Vegas and the rest of Nevada. We need bats, gloves, training equipment and even pants for practice.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
DPAC is a very small school competing against programs with 10x the number of students as it. Despite this, the DPAC Blue Knights are competitive in all sports, even baseball. However, as they come from mostly low income backgrounds they often rely on donations for basic equipment. When the kids try out for baseball, they do not even have a glove or a bat and require the team to provide them.
The players are all very enthusiastic and ready to build something special, but they need a lot of financial support to achieve their goals.
The kids are motivated and have been using old or substandard equipment compared to many of their opponents.
Let's Go Blue Knights!
My Project
The DPAC Blue Knights have been building a baseball program from scratch and we are in our third year. No experience also means no equipment. Please assist our program by donating gear! Thank you!
Please support us by providing the athletes with better equipment.
We are asking for gloves to equip the players. Bats and batting gloves are also being requested because we tend to have equipment that is several years old and long past its life expectancy. Far more training equipment is needed too.
With our history of producing elite basketball teams, our school is a place with a tradition of excellence in athletics. The school is situated in the classic neighborhood of the North Las Vegas Westside, an area known for its history as the segregated part of Las Vegas and one where the impact of segregation is felt up to the current day. Baseball is quickly becoming more segregated again and it is our goal to fight this trend here at our school.
