My Project
Double Dutch teaches kids the importance of teamwork. It’s a task that can’t be done alone and it relies heavily on the coordination and cooperation among all team members. This sport builds coordination, agility, and quickness while having fun. With these materials I plan to start a Double Dutch League and teach middle school girls the power of the ropes and how they can bring us together. During the 1950s girls were often turned away from guy-dominated sports. When Double Dutch came along, girls transformed jump roping into a realm all their own. They introduced moves, etiquette, chants, and traditions that passed from girl to girl and generation to generation.
