Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The 5th graders at our school are energetic, thoughtful, and full of life. They represent several different ethnic minorities and speak a variety of languages.

The students here love to jump rope! I was able to buy four new ropes over the summer. While out at recess today I noticed the kids had tied two ropes together to make one long rope. They shortened another rope by wrapping it around their wrists several times. What were they doing? Making a set of double-dutch ropes! I certainly appreciate the ingenuity, but would REALLY LOVE them to have the real thing.

I want to help our grade level acquire several sets of double-dutch ropes, in varying lengths. I'd also like a few single ropes for kids who want to jump by themselves.
