Doodlebots Bring Science Into the Art Room!

Help me give my students Crayola thin line markers and EUDAX DC Mini Electric Motors to make their own Doodlebots that can doodle designs on paper!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Smith's classroom raised $399

My Students

My students are amazing! (And when I say "my students," I mean every single student in the whole school because I am the art teacher and I get to work with all of them!)

Our school serves a highly diverse population.

Many are immigrants from all over the world, and many are English Language Learners. The majority of the population is classified as high poverty. I am also fortunate in that I get to work with students served by Special Education who are mainstreamed into my art classes. My students are lively, expressive, eager to learn, and they love art!

My Project

My students love to create in the Art Room; the more engaging the lessons and projects are, the more they grab the students' attention and focus. I work hard to bring my hard-working students interesting and enriching activities!

I want school to be a place the students want to be and I want learning to be fun and interesting for them.

Designing and creating their own "Doodlebots" is sure to be an exciting, hands-on, crowd-pleaser of a project and will teach my art students some basics about design, electricity and circuits in the process.

Using a small electric motor, some fine-line markers and a tin can, each student can create a "robot" that wiggles and scoots across their paper, creating designs and doodles as it goes. And, the Doodlebot even serves as a robotic pencil-holder!

Each student will get to build their own Doodlebot and adorn it with facial features, arms, legs, crazy wings and tails or whatever else they dream up to give it a unique personality. Don't we all wish *we* could have made a Doodlebot in Elementary School? I know I do....!
