Amazing things can happen when students are able to focus on their work. As students work within the classroom space we need to ensure they feel safe and encounter positive experiences. My first grade students are from all academic, ethnic, and social-emotional backgrounds. Every student strives to be the best student, the best friend, and their best self everyday and know what they say and do matters!
Social-emotional awareness plays a large part in the school day and how a student performs at school academically, behaviorally, and socially.
These materials will provide comfort and be able to help students self soothe and self regulate while feeling comforted. In the classroom, we focus on how to be a good friend, expressing emotions and problem-solving techniques.
The items selected for this project are aimed towards an initiative to provide an opportunity for my first grade students to excel at learning.
My aim is to develop the whole child and to play a pivotal role in helping my students to be their best selves and to enable them to contribute to the development of the society in an effective, efficient and positive manner. In an effort to motivate them to always strive for success and excellence, the implementation of having a choice on engaging materials will provide motivation for exceptional and exemplary behaviors.
I have seen how students have reshaped their overall behavior and academic attitude in a more positive way as a result of implementing engaging materials that are exciting.
