Since receiving the fidget toys, slime, play-dough, kinetic sand, and other sensory toys, our classroom has become a hub of creativity and focused engagement. One memorable project involved using kinetic sand and play-dough to create models of ecosystems we were studying in science. Students sculpted animals, plants, and landscapes, which helped them visualize and better understand the relationships within different habitats. The sensory materials also serve as wonderful tools during independent work time, helping students stay calm and attentive by providing tactile stimulation that supports their concentration.\r\nThe students were absolutely thrilled and curious when they first saw the new materials coming in boxes! Many immediately wanted to try everything, asking thoughtful questions about how the materials could help with their learning and creativity. It was a joy to watch their little faces light up as they explored the slime's stretchy texture or the calming feeling of running their fingers through the kinetic sand. The excitement brought a fresh energy to the classroom and encouraged positive social interaction as they shared and collaborated.","fullyFundedDate":1735657753465,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-fidgets-toys-for-social-emotio/8741320/","projectTitle":"Sensory Fidgets & Toys for Social-Emotional Youth K-2nd Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Galego","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9274034_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725541560434","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9274034"},{"teacherId":9637208,"projectId":8595181,"letterContent":"I can't begin to express the impact this support has had on our students this year. Thank you for making such a tremendous difference!\r\n\r\nMany of our scholars come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and they were truly grateful to receive brand new materials dedicated just to them. Having these resources not only supported their learning but also helped build their confidence! We have the stools placed at our group table and use the loungers on the rug. It is a nice alternative to sitting on the floor. Your kindness and support have made a world of difference, and we truly appreciate it.\r\n\r\nAs the materials started arriving, our students turned unpacking into a fun and exciting game of \"What's in the box?\" Each new delivery sparked curiosity and joy, making the experience even more special.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun exploring some of our science projects, and the excitement has been contagious! Our hedgehog crystal experiment was a blast to set up, even though only one set fully crystallized. But in true scientist fashion, our students embraced the challenge, eagerly mixing the materials and humorously blaming the weather for the unexpected results.\r\n\r\nSome of our most anticipated projects are still on hold as we wait for warmer weather. We're looking forward to collecting ants for our ant farms and diving into our sea creature habitats soon. The anticipation is building, and we can't wait to see these projects come to life!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this an unforgettable, hands-on, and science-filled year for our students.
