My students come from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. We have about 490+ students in our building, of which one-third receive free and reduced price lunch. They are an amazing group of kids that inspire me beyond my own imagination! They impress me with their creative problem-solving skills and ways they apply their knowledge to make connections in and out of my classroom.
My students are what I would call creative thinkers of the future!
They strive to do their best in each and every project and push me to stay on top of my game. I feel very lucky to be an innovative and creative teacher that fuses the Visual Arts with common-core standards to engage the variety of learners I service.
My Project
Help me add a digital Cricut machine to my art room to allow students and myself ways to enhance the Visual Arts curriculum. The machine itself is very user friendly and would provide a plethora of opportunities on a digital level, both in and out of the classroom. First off, students can create tracers and templates out of card stock and other materials that they can be used in the creation process to create their masterpieces. Secondly, I would be able to save time and make adaptations for special needs students when drawing certain objects via creating patterns that they can trace. Thirdly, the machine could be used to create hallway displays and detailed projects that kids could design, explore and build. The machine has so many functions and ways that it can be used in the art room and beyond.
