I'm a K-5 Art Specialist in a STEAM building. I service about 450 students every four days, teaching them about the Visual Arts and connecting my curriculum to the common core. I have tried to stay innovative in my practice by designing units of study that explore a variety of artists, cultures and techniques in the art studio. My budding lil artists inspire me in so many ways. I truly have a DREAM JOB that I enjoy coming to work and seeing the creative learning process and imaginations of my students in action. My students know my expectations and explore many mini lessons throughout a big unit of study. I almost always end up being a learner to when we connect to areas of math, science and literacy. I've been implementing a choice-based model of teaching in my room, where students are given choices as to materials or themes in their art. This opens the door to exploration and embrace challenges!
