My Project

My colleague, Mrs. G., and I teach 12th grade English at an alternative education high school in Santa Paula, California. We are a small, service learning academy in a community that is rich with culture and support for our youth. Please join us in supporting our students by giving them access to the great Shakespearean tragedy, Macbeth.

Our students have not had an easy road in their K-12 education, but they are resilient and more motivated than ever to graduate high school and pursue their passions in the real world.

Our first priority is always connecting with our students, now we want to provide them with the best opportunity to connect with the content. Oftentimes, we have had to rely on teaching novels with PDFs on a chrome book or using our document cameras to project novels on one screen. Our students have voiced frustration with reading books on a screen and would love to have their own copy in their hands.

We are requesting two class sets of "No Fear Shakespeare, Macbeth." This version provides them with a modern English translation alongside the original play. We are also requesting two copies of the graphic novel version and post it chart paper in order to engage our students through visualizing and producing art, as well as contact paper to protect the books for years to come.
