This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our International School provides both dual language and traditional classrooms. We are committed to providing all students with academically rigorous experiences that include world language and a global perspective. Technology is an important part of our students daily work ensuring they develop the 21st century skills that are needed to be successful in school and careers.

Many of our 400 students do not have computers at home and my technology classroom is the only access they have.

Our school is an inner city, low income school. Many of our families struggle to make ends meet. They want the best for their children and put their trust in the teachers to educate their children.

My students deserve to have access to high level technology, that helps them develop skills and creativity.

My Project

My students 1st grade to 5th grade are learning the basics of keyboarding in Technology class. This important 21st century skill will give them access to all that is available to them using digital devices as well as help with productivity in school assignments, including CCSS tests!

My 1st and 2nd graders are just learning where all the letters are and teaching their fingers to reach and strike the correct keys, but my 3rd to 5th graders are ready for the next step: Typing without looking at the keyboard.

This is a very hard habit to break and using keyboard skins to cover the keys will challenge my students to look at the monitor only.
