My Project

Our middle school students range from grade 6 to 8 and are preteens and early teenagers. They are learning about themselves alongside the academic lessons we provide in school.

My students are fun-loving, inquisitive, excited students who come to school for all the right reasons: to grow as learners, to enjoy education, and to socialize with friends!

These 7th graders are on the verge of their teenage years and enjoying all of the excitement that comes with being a middle schooler. Life in the middle, between childhood and adulthood, gives them a chance to explore their own personalities and interests!

Imagine sitting on hard fiberboard chairs all day long. This is the reality of our students, who move from class to class, all with the same sort of hard chairs. Do you remember how awful that was? In our classroom, however, students want the choice of what type of desks and chairs they can use! We have purchased standing desks, softer stand-alone chairs, and, thanks to a past DonorsChoose project, yoga-ball chairs. However, the yoga-ball chairs have been so well-loved that they've broken. We have used them with missing parts, replaced yoga balls, changed bolts... but they've aged out. Can you help us by replacing them?

These yoga-ball chairs will allow students to have some movement while they are engaged in class, which helps many students focus on their mental tasks.

The pure excitement of choosing their own seats also is a motivating factor for students to come to class as quickly as possible and be ready to learn. Finally, the students have been showing their is the prime choice of seating, but ours are no longer usable. Please help students have the resources they desire to build the educational environment that they want!
