This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The 3K to K kids call me Ms. Books. 1st through 5th grades call me Ms. M or Ms. Moskowitz. It's my 4th year being a librarian (28 yrs in the same school though). I've been a 5th grade teacher for 15 yrs and then taught S.S. for a wide range of elementary grades. I'm even teaching my former 5th graders children! Our books are in good condition. I certainly don't want my students ranging from 3K (tho they get board books) through 5th grade folding the corner of the page to know where they left off.

Each year I begin with a huge stash of bookmarks.

But my students' older siblings or even parents abscond with them! I buy cute one, funny ones, solar system or map bookmarks, so I do understand why they disappear. Some students have begun their own collection. Each week when they visit the library, they ask for a new bookmark.

I'd really like to replenish my stock to last through June or maybe have a few to begin anew in September 2025.
